McNeil Victorious At Grand Prix Of Spain

MADRID, SPAIN - Representing Canada at 65 KG this past week, Lachlan McNeil was dominant once again in international competition, claiming the title in his respective weight class at the Grand Prix of Spain.
The gold medal finish for McNeil is the first of his career at the international senior level. During the tournament, the Toronto, Ontario product outscored his opponents 33-13, which saw him defeat wrestlers from Peru, Kazakhstan, South Korea, and Belgium.
In the semifinals, McNeil trailed 4-2 early in the match but would rally to secure the 10-4 victory and advance to the finals. In the championship bout, McNeil came out on top, with a 9-5 victorious effort.
In addition to McNeil, Marisol Nugent represented the United States and Tar Heel Wrestling Club at 62 KG. The international showing for Nugent was her first career senior level tour event.
After winning her first match of the tournament (9-7), Nugent would fall in her next two matchups to finish fifth in the event.
