How It Happened
- Carolina got off to a fast start, firing off six shots from five different players at the halfway point of the opening frame.
- Talia Dellaperuta gave UNC its best look of the first half with a left strike from distance, which was denied by PSU keeper Katherine Asman.
- Penn State began applying pressure towards the end of the first 45 minutes of play, but Emmie Allen made a pair of saves as both teams went into the break scoreless.
- The second half proved to be a back-and-forth battle between the two top-10 teams before inclement weather temporarily suspended the match for approximately 50 minutes with 9:21 left on the clock.
- Neither team was able to get a go-ahead goal after the lightning delay, resulting in a 0-0 draw.
- Carolina held a 19-5 advantage in shots and a 3-2 edge in corners.
- Ally Sentnor had a game-high five shots – the same number as the entire Penn State roster – while Melina Rebimbas recorded four in her Carolina debut.
- Allen made three saves between the posts while Asman finished the match with one.
- Making her first career start, Savy King logged a full 90 minutes, as did Allen, Maycee Bell and Emily Moxley.
