Know Before You Go: Kenan Stadium 2023

The Tar Heel Football home opener is just over two weeks away, and Carolina Athletics wants to make sure fans are prepared for their long-awaited return to Kenan Stadium. Check out the list below for updated game day experiences and procedures. More details and updates will be posted throughout the season on GoHeels.com.
Light It Up
North Carolina football fans will experience a more colorful and modernized game day atmosphere when they cheer on the Tar Heels at Kenan Stadium this season. When fans gather at Kenan Stadium, they will see more than 196 new game lights installed atop of the north and south sides of the arena, along with 16 new moving spotlights and customized logos, eight on each side of the stadium. As part of this project, the 172-foot-tall Morehead-Patterson Bell Tower will also see its existing halogen lighting fixtures replaced with 16-LED lights, allowing it to be lit after Tar Heel football victories, to honor National Championship teams and during Commencement.
Pregame Activities
The Bell Tower Walk is back! Greet the team as they follow the follow the Marching Tar Heels and cheerleaders from Bell Tower Drive to the steps of the Kenan Football Center. The Bell Tower Walk starts at the Bell Tower two and a half hours prior to kickoff.
After the Bell Tower Walk, head over to Tar Heel Town, presented by Coke, in Polk Place, where fans can enjoy music, interactive games, inflatables, food trucks, and more! Tar Heel Town officially opens three hours prior to kickoff and concludes with a Marching Tar Heels performance one hour prior to the game.
Kenan Pines
Kenan Pines – located in the woods at Kenan Stadium between Gates 2 and 3 – will provide an exclusive area for fans to utilize prior to and during the football game. The atmosphere will include food offerings, non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages, large TVs for viewing and yard games for more than 300 fans to enjoy. Tickets will be required for entry. For Kenan Pines tickets, email unc@revelxp.com or call 919-869-5486. Kenan Pines opens two (2) hours prior to kickoff.
Cashless Transactions
Food and merchandise transactions will continue to be cashless. This limits the contact between guests and employees and improves the flow and speed of transactions to help reduce wait times. Accepted payment options include, but are not limited to, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Our vendors have invested in their point of sales systems and transaction times are expected to be much shorter this season!

Beginning this year, SeatGeek will take on the role of the new Official Ticket Marketplace, succeeding the former partnership with StubHub. Fans will find it convenient to handle ticket management and sales through SeatGeek's acclaimed mobile platform.
Tar Heel Express Gameday Shuttles
Will Service 3 Locations this season. Shuttles at the Friday Center Park and Ride as well as Downtown Chapel Hill Shuttle from Carolina Coffee Shop begin 3 Hours Prior to Game Time while shuttles from Southern Village will begin 1.5 hours prior to Game Time.
