Hole Vik Named To Hermann Trophy Watch List

KANSAS CITY, MO. - North Carolina men's soccer defender Vemund Hole Vik was one of 37 Division I players named to the 2023 Hermann Trophy Watch List, the United Soccer Coaches announced Thursday afternoon.
The Hermann Trophy is presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club and is the nation's highest individual honor recognizing the National Player of the Year as determined by the voting of Division I coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches.
Earlier this month, Hole Vik was one of 24 defenders given national recognition by the United Soccer Coaches, named to the 2023 Players to Watch.
Entering his first season with the Tar Heels as a graduate transfer, Hole Vik arrives in Chapel Hill after spending the previous four seasons at Elon. The 2022 CAA Defensive Player of the Year and an All-CAA First Team choice a season ago, Hole Vik also collected national honors as an All-Atlantic Region First Team selection, as well as being named a Scholar All-America in the classroom.
In four seasons with the Phoenix, Hole Vik appeared in 58 contests, earning the start in 52 matchups.
The Tar Heels open the 2023 campaign this evening, welcoming Loyola Maryland for a 7:30 PM clash.
