Navy Romps To An 8-1 Win On Monday

Chapel Hill, NC --Â The Navy squad scored four runs in the first inning and cruised to an easy 8-1 win over Blue in a 6 1/2 inning scrimmage in a rare Monday afternoon outing at Boshamer Stadium.
Hunter Stokely's double down the right-field line drove in the first run of the scrimmage before Colby Wilkerson's single to left plated the second run of the inning. Reece Holbrook's double drove in the third run before a run scored on a throwing error to cap off the four-run first.
Casey Cook's single to right put Navy up 5-0 in the second. Ryker Galaska's double to left center drove in Blue's only run of the day in the third. Â Navy responded with a three-run top of the fourth. Tyler Parks drove in the first run of the inning with a sacrifice fly, then Anthony Donofrio and Jackson Van De Brake each had RBI-singles for the final 8-1 margin.
Cook and Gallaher were the only players with multiple base hits. Cook was 2-4 with one RBI and one run scored while Gallaher was 2-3 with one run scored. Gallaher, Galaska and Reece Holbrook's doubles were the only extra base hits.
Seven pitchers saw action: Cameron Padgett and Will Simmons threw for Navy with Connor Bovair, Matthew Matthijs, Mason Yokum, Hugh Collins and Luke Osteen throwing for Blue.
Padgett gave up one run in 3.0 innings with Simmons tossing 3.0 scoreless innings. Collins and Osteen each threw a scoreless inning for Blue.
