PITTSBURGH, Pa. – No. 18 North Carolina men's soccer (4-0-4, 1-0-3) battled Pitt (4-3-3, 1-1-2) to a scoreless draw Friday night at Ambrose Urbanic Field in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in the Tar Heels' first Atlantic Coast Conference road test.

Carolina remains the only undefeated team in the conference.

How It Happened

It was a back-and-forth battle between the two teams throughout the entire match, but UNC was able to challenge every ball and disrupt much of Pitt's momentum.
Pitt had an opportunity for the go-ahead goal in the 39th minute with a strike from distance, but the shot went right into the gloves of Andrew Cordes.
The Tar Heels generated six shots to the Panthers' three during the first half, including a 3-1 edge in shots on target, as both teams went into the break scoreless.
UNC's best scoring chance came in the 73rd minute with a strike from Martin Vician from inside the box, but Pitt's keeper was there for the save.
Cordes came up big with a pair of crucial saves in the final three minutes of the match, maintaining the scoreless draw in a fiercely-contested ACC battle.

Inside the Numbers

This was the first time Pitt was held scoreless on their home field since Nov. 10, 2021.
North Carolina has kept all eight opponents to one goal or less.
The result marks the first draw between the two teams in the all-time series, which UNC leads at 8-2-1.
Cordes, Andrew Czech, Charlie Harper, Vemund Hole Vik and Til Zinnhardt logged a full 90 minutes.
