Ustby Picked for NCAA Student-Athlete Engagement Group

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Alyssa Ustby, a senior on the UNC women's basketball team, has been selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference's representative to the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Student-Athlete Engagement Group.
The group was formed in 2020 and serves as an amplifying voice for women's basketball on key initiatives, legislation and various issues. It was formed in collaboration with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and a student-athlete from each conference.
Ustby, whose term on the committee continues through June 30, 2024, will participate throughout the year in meetings and calls.
"It's a great honor for Alyssa to be serve in this role," UNC coach Courtney Banghart said. "She is a thoughtful leader and the epitome of a student-athlete in so many ways. This opportunity will get her dedication and thoughtfulness. Great choice by the ACC!"
Ustby, a senior forward from Rochester, Minn., represents the team as part of UNC's Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC). An All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection in 2023, she has been named to the All-ACC Academic team in each of the last three years. She is majoring in advertising and PR with a minor in business administration.
"I'm excited to represent my Tar Heel family and the ACC as a member of the NCAA Women's Basketball Student-Athlete Engagement Group," Ustby said. "I am grateful for this responsibility to serve as an advocate for female athletes."
Ustby and the Tar Heels open the 2023-24 season on Nov. 8, hosting Gardner-Webb at Carmichael Arena.
