McNeil Named ACC Wrestler Of The Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – North Carolina wrestling 141-pounder Lachlan McNeil has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference's Wrestler of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.

For McNeil, the weekly honors from the ACC is the first of his Carolina career.

In three duals this past weekend, the redshirt-sophomore earned a trio of major decision victories, outscoring his opponents 49-10 during the stretch. On Friday, McNeil defeated 12th-ranked CJ Composto of Penn (15-3), finishing the weekend with victories over Brown's Ian Oswalt (17-3) and Harvard's Jaden Pepe (17-4).

This season, McNeil has nine ranked wins to his resume, as well as holding seven major decision victories, tied for fourth best in the country.

A season ago, the Toronto, Ontario product collected 27 wins throughout the campaign, finishing fourth at the 2023 NCAA Championships, his first career All-America finish.

Lachlan and the Tar Heels return to action next Friday night, beginning ACC action and Friday Night Duals against Virginia Tech.
