Baseball Celebrates Start Of New Season

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Another sold-out crowd occupied the Blue Zone at Kenan Memorial Stadium Saturday for the Diamond Heels' 15th annual First Pitch Dinner as alumni, fans, coaches, and players gathered to celebrate the past, present, and future of Carolina baseball.
Jacob Stallings ('12), 2021 National League Rawlings' Gold Glove winner and member of the Colorado Rockies, served as the keynote speaker and urged the Diamond Heels to be accountable and resilient and to work hard to earn everything. He also talked about his experiences as a Major League Baseball player and how his four years at UNC fostered his journey into the big leagues.
Head coach Scott Forbes, who enters his fourth season leading the team, spoke of the team's goals for this upcoming season and the changing landscape inside collegiate baseball.
Following the introduction of the 2024 Diamond Heels, an auction was held, with all the proceeds going directly to the UNC baseball program.
Carolina opens its 2024 season with a three-game series against Wagner, Feb. 16-18, at Boshamer Stadium.
