Barton, Geppert Collect Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-America Honors

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The North Carolina defensemen duo of Paul Barton and Andrew Geppert were named to the Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-America list, announced Monday afternoon.

Barton and Geppert both were given honorable mention recognition in the preseason announcement.

Last season, Barton started all 14 games for the Tar Heels, leading Carolina with 17 caused turnovers, while adding 32 groundballs. The junior posted 11-straight contests with multiple groundballs, in addition to causing two-or-more turnovers in seven games.

A product of Alton Bay, N.H., Geppert also started all 14 games at close defense last season for Carolina. The graduate defenseman finished the campaign with 18 groundballs and nine caused turnovers. Geppert recorded multiple groundballs in six games, and posted a caused turnover in seven matchups.

The Tar Heels begin the 2024 campaign on Feb. 10, traveling to Atlanta for a neutral site matchup with Mercer.
