Blue Wins 2-1 On Saturday To Win Fall World Series

Chapel Hill, NC--Â Pitching dominated the day as the Blue squad took a 2-1 win over Navy in a six-inning game to win their third game of the Fall World Series against one loss, making them the 2024 Fall World Series champions. Each team was held to just three hits, and there were no errors.
Blue got on the board in the second when Sawyer Black scored from third on a bases-loaded walk. Blue later took a 2-0 lead in the fifth as Alex Madera scored from third on a wild pitch. Jackson Van De Brake gave Navy its only run of the day when he drilled a two-out, solo homer to left-center in the bottom of the sixth and final inning.
Offensive highlights:Â Alex Madera, who had a double, was 2-2 with one RBI and one run scored. He was the only player with multiple base hits. Alex Ferrell singled to left for Blue's other base hit. Van De Brake, Reece Holbrook and Lee Sowers each had one hit for Navy.
Pitching highlights:Â Walker McDuffie, Dylan Weber, Â Camron Seagraves and Matthew Matthijs threw for Blue, with Boston Flannery, Mason Yokum and Ryan Lynch seeing action on the mound for Navy. McDuffie tossed 2.0 scoreless, hitless innings, striking out three of the seven batters he faced. Seagraves threw 2.0 scoreless innings, giving up one hit while striking out three of the seven batters he faced. Weber retired the side in order in his one inning of work. Yokum thew 2.2 scoreless innings for Navy, giving up no hits and striking out four of the nine hitters he faced.
