Women’s Soccer Travels To Florida State For Another Ranked Contest

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The No. 4 North Carolina women's soccer team's penultimate regular season contest will take place on Friday, Oct. 25, with a trip to Tallahassee to face No. 17 Florida State, the defending national champion, in a top-20 battle at Seminole Soccer Complex.

Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. ET. The match will air on ACCNX with Trevor DeGroot and Ariya Massoudi on call, and Alexandra DeCapua will serve as the sideline reporter.

The Tar Heels will arrive in Florida boasting a 14-2 overall record with a 7-1 mark in league play, having already clinched a spot in the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament. The Seminoles are 10-2-2 on the year, including 5-2-1 in the ACC.

UNC is tied with Duke for the top spot in conference standings with 21 points. FSU is in a three-way tie for second with 16 points.

North Carolina is No. 1 in the NCAA RPI for the fourth consecutive week.
The Tar Heels are ranked No. 4 in this week's United Soccer Coaches poll for the second week in a row. They have been in the top 10 all season.
This will be the 50th meeting between the two powerhouses. UNC leads the all-time series at 31-12-6, including 10-4 in Tallahassee.
The last meeting was on Sept. 24, 2023, in Chapel Hill for a thrilling 3-3 draw. Maddie Dahlien had a goal and an assist, and Kate Faasse also scored.
Faasse leads the team with 11 goals and 23 points. Her five game-winning goals rank first in the ACC and second nationally, while her 11 goals sit at seventh in the country.
UNC has kept all opponents to six shots on goal or fewer (2.9 per game) and 15 shots or fewer (6.7 per game).
Carolina has 10 shutouts on the year, with Clare Gagne taking credit for eight of them. UNC has allowed four goals in the last 10 contests.
Dahlien and FSU's Jordynn Dudley, Heather Gilchrist, Giana Riley, and Taylor Suarez all earned bronze at the FIFA U20 World Cup with Team USA.
Freshman defender Trinity Armstrong is currently playing at the FIFA U17 World Cup in the Dominican Republic. She helped the U.S. clinch a spot in the quarterfinals with two shutouts in group stage play.
This will be the Tar Heels' fifth ranked matchup this season. They are 3-1 against the top 25 this year.
