Tyson Grabs Slot On Malone Award List

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.—University of North Carolina junior Cade Tyson is one of 20 players on the preseason watchlist for the 2024-25 Karl Malone Award, given to the nation's top power forward.
The annual Karl Malone Award, named after the Class of 2010 Naismith Hall of Famer and two-time NBA Most Valuable Player, celebrates its 11th year by recognizing the top power forwards in Division I men's college basketball.
Tyson, a transfer from Belmont in his first season at Carolina, joins teammates Elliot Cadeau, RJ Davis, Ian Jackson and Drake Powell on watchlists for Naismith Starting Five Awards: Cadeau for the Bob Cousy Award (top point guard), Davis for the Jerry West Award (shooting guard) and Jackson and Powell for the Julius Erving Award (small forward).
Other Atlantic Coast Conference players on the Malone watchlist include Clemson's Ian Schieffelin and Syracuse's Donnie Freeman
