November 18, 2024 | Football
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – After leading the Tar Heels to a 31-24 victory over Wake Forest with a career high 244 rushing yards on Saturday, the ACC named North Carolina running back Omarion Hampton the conference's Running Back of the Week on Monday.
Â
Hampton, a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award, rushed a career-high 35 times for his 244 yards, scoring once, as the Heels pulled away from the Demon Deacons this weekend. He became just the third Tar Heel with three 200-rushing yard games in his career and moved into fifth all-time with 3,327 career rushing yards.
Â
It marks the third time this season Hampton has earned Running Back of the Week honors from the ACC and the seventh time winning it in his career. He has rushed for over 100 yards in nine out of 10 games this season and eight straight contests, which is a UNC record.
Â
Hampton and the Tar Heels are back in action this weekend at Boston College. Carolina takes on the Eagles at 12 p.m. with coverage on The CW.
