Women’s Soccer Meets Duke In ACC Tournament Semifinals

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The eighth-ranked North Carolina women's soccer team will face a familiar foe in the semifinals of the 2024 Ally Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament, as it rematches with No. 1 Duke on Thursday, Nov. 7, at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary with a trip to the championship match on the line.
The fourth-seeded Tar Heels and Blue Devils, the tournament's top seed, will kick off at 8 p.m. ET. The match will air on ACC Network with Marion Crowder, Lori Lindsey and Alex Perlman on call.

- This will be the 55th meeting between North Carolina and Duke. UNC leads the all-time series at 43-6-5, including 9-0-1 at a neutral site.
- Thursday will be the third meeting between UNC and Duke this year. The Blue Devils beat the Tar Heels, 1-0, on Sept. 5 in Durham before posting a 3-2 win on Oct. 31 in Chapel Hill.
- Carolina and Duke have met each other three times in a single season twice before, in 1992 and 1994. The Tar Heels won both the ACC and NCAA title those years.
- The Tar Heels are 12-0-1 all-time against Duke in the ACC Tournament, including 6-0-1 in the semifinals.
- The last time the two foes met in the ACC Tournament was in the 2022 semifinals. After a 0-0 tie at the end of regulation, UNC advanced after a 7-6 penalty kick decision.

- UNC's Trinity Armstrong and Duke's Mary Long, both freshmen, earned bronze with the U.S. at the FIFA U17 World Cup in the Dominican Republic on Sunday. It was Team USA's best finish since the inaugural event in 2008.
- Duke assistant coach Carla Overbeck was a three-time All-America selection for UNC from 1986-89, leading the Tar Heels to four unbeaten national title seasons. She was also a four-time NCAA All-Tournament and two-time All-ACC pick.
- Carolina is one win away from 950 in program history. The team reached its 250th ACC regular season victory on Oct. 10.
