CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – North Carolina men's soccer defender Riley Thomas has been named to the United Soccer Coaches All-America list.
Selected as a Third Team All-America honoree, Thomas earned national honors for the first time in his career.
Thomas becomes the 51st All-America selection in program history, the first defender for Carolina since Alex Comsia in 2018 to collect national recognition.
In his graduate season in Chapel Hill, the Atlanta, Ga. native started all 18 matches for the Tar Heels this fall.
Thomas was an integral part of the Carolina back line, helping the Tar Heels post seven shutouts, and the second-best scoring defense in the ACC. Named to the 2024 ACC Preseason Watch List, Thomas also earned postseason honors from the league for the second consecutive year.
This fall, Thomas helped Carolina earn a berth to the NCAA Tournament for the 31st time in program history, including the 16th in the last 17 seasons.
