Softball Releases 2025 Schedule

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Ahead of her second season at the helm, head softball coach Megan Smith Lyon announced Carolina's 2025 schedule on Monday.
The slate features 33 games at Anderson Softball Stadium, including four ACC series' and three tournaments.
The Tar Heels will have a strong strength of schedule with 30 games against teams who finished last season in the top 100 of the RPI and 15 games against teams who made the 2024 NCAA Tournament.
The 2025 season has a local feel to it with 43 of the 55 games taking place in either North Carolina or South Carolina.
The season opens at Auburn for the Tiger Invitational on Feb. 7 where the Tar Heels will take on Appalachian State and Auburn. On Feb. 8 they'll face App State again and Southern Illinois. The tournament closes with one more against host Auburn.
After a mid-week on the road at Coastal Carolina, the home slate kicks off with the Tar Heel Invitational. Carolina will face off with Drexel, George Mason, and Princeton between Feb. 14-16.
The Tar Heels hit the road for a mid-week contest against South Carolina on Feb. 19 before opening a 16-game homestand.
The Carolina Classic opens on Feb. 20. Maryland, Wagner, Georgetown, and Queens all make the trip to Chapel Hill.
After hosting Elon, the third and final tournament begins. The Mizuno Showdown starts on Feb. 28 and will feature St. Joe's, Kent State, Harvard, and Michigan.
After that ACC play opens with a home series against Pitt beginning on March 7. Carolina hosts Radford on March 11 then hits the road for a three-game set against Clemson starting on March 14.
Liberty comes to Chapel Hill on March 19 before Louisville makes the trip for a series beginning on March 21.
UNC then heads to UNCG on March 26 before going to Syracuse on March 28 for a three-game set.
The Tar Heels return home for one game against Charlotte before heading up the road to face Duke for three games opening on Apr. 4. Next, they head to ECU for one game before coming back to Anderson Softball Stadium to face Georgia Tech for three games.
After a trip to UNCW, NC State comes to Chapel Hill for three on Apr. 17. The final mid-week of the year is at home against Norfolk State on Apr. 23. The regular season ends with a trip to Notre Dame for three games starting on Apr. 25.
The ACC Tournament will be at Boston College from May 7-10 before the NCAA Tournament kicks off o May 16.
