Navy Crushes Blue On Thursday

Chapel Hill, NC -- The Navy squad scored 15 runs on 12 hits to roll to a 15-3 win over Blue in a 6 1/2 scrimmage on Thursday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium.
Luke Stevenson started the scoring with a 339-foot solo homer to left in the first that cleared the fence by inches. Blue tied the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the inning when Parks Harber crushed a 440-foot homer over the screen in left.
Navy took the lead for good with a three-run top of the second. Two runs scored on Blue errors and another scored on a fielder's choice. Parker Haskin scored for Blue on a fielder's choice in the third to cut the Navy lead to 4-2.
Navy then put things away with a long, seven-run top of the fourth. Alberto Osuna started the scoring with a 432-foot homer to left center. Ryker Galaska and Casey Cook then each had run-scoring singles. a run scored on a wild pitch and Stevenson capped off the inning with an RBI-single to first.
Blue scored its third and final run in the fifth when Carter French scored on Navy's only error of the day. Navy scored three more runs in the sixth as Casey Cook had a two-run single and a run scored on a passed ball. Patrick Alvarez capped of the day for Navy with a 357-foot solo homer to left in the seventh.
Stevenson led Navy by going 3-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Cook was 2-4 with three RBI and two runs scored while Osuna was 2-5 with three RBI and one run scored. Alvarez was 2-3 with two RBI and two runs scored. Galaska was 2-4 with one RBI and three rus scored. Harber and Haskin each had two hits for Blue.
Folger Boaz started for Navy with Matt Poston throwing in relief. Jason DeCaro started for Blue, while Mason Yokum, Harrison Lewis, Hugh Collins, Matthew Matthijs and Dalton Pence threw in relief. Boaz gave up two runs in 4.0 innings while striking out four and walking none. 41 of Boaz's 64 pitches were strikes. Â Poston gave up no earned runs in his 2.0 innings of relief.
Carolina's next scrimmage will be on Friday.
