Women’s Lacrosse Takes On Notre Dame Saturday At Home

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The seventh-ranked University of North Carolina women's lacrosse team resumes Atlantic Coast Conference action on Saturday, March 2, for a big top-8 showdown with No. 5 Notre Dame. First draw is slated for 11 a.m. ET at Dorrance Field.
The game will broadcast nationally on ACC Network with Dana Boyle and Leah Secondo on call. Tickets are available for purchase here.

Heels vs. Irish
This will be the 15th meeting all-time between North Carolina and Notre Dame. The Tar Heels lead the series at 12-2, including an undefeated 7-0 record in Chapel Hill. UNC has out-scored ND 192-114 all-time, including 70-50 in the last five meetings.
In the Last Meeting
The last contest between the two teams was on April 1, 2023, in South Bend which resulted in a 16-12 victory for Notre Dame. Caitlyn Wurzburger had two goals and two assists. Caroline Godine had two goals and one assist while Alecia Nicholas made seven saves.
Last Time Out
Dominating every statistical category, North Carolina cruised to a 23-3 victory over High Point on Sunday afternoon at Dorrance Field. Ashley Humphrey had a game-high eight points behind two goals and six assists. Reilly Casey had six points off of three goals and three assists. Eleven different players scored and all four goalies made at least one save.

Through games on Feb. 25, UNC ranks first in the ACC and second in the country with 10.6 assists per game and 19.8 draw controls per game. Caitlyn Wurzburger ranks first in the ACC and is tied for first in the country with a .800 shot percentage; She has 12 goals on 15 shots. Humphrey, the NCAA single-season assists record holder with 88 from 2022 at Stanford, is ranked second in the ACC and tied for second in the country with 27 assists.
North Carolina is ranked No. 7 in this week's ILWomen/IWLCA poll and No. 4 in the USA Lacrosse Magazine poll. The Tar Heels checked in at No. 3 in three different preseason polls: USA Lacrosse, ILWomen/IWLCA and ACC Coaches Poll.
Fierce Freshmen
Carolina's newcomers are the No. 1 freshman class in the country, and all seven rookies earned at least one All-America honor during their prep careers. So far this year, 25.8% of UNC's goal production has come from freshmen. Leading the way is Eva Ingrilli, who tops the roster with 14 goals. As of Feb. 27, her 14 goals ranks fifth in the ACC and first among conference freshmen. Ingrilli netted the game-winning golden goal at No. 15 Virginia and has had a hat trick in four of five contests.

Caitlyn Wurzburger currently has 99 career assists, which ranks fourth on Carolina's all-time career assists leaderboard. She's 22 assists away from ranking third and 33 away from ranking second.
Wurzburger also has 218 career points, which ranks 11th all-time in UNC history. She's only two points away from cracking into UNC's all-time top-10, and 28 away from the top-5. She became just the 13th Tar Heel to ever record 200 career points on May 14, 2023.
