CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – For the first time in her career, graduate infielder Lexi Godwin has been named the ACC Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday. It is the second week in a row that a Tar Heel has earned Player of the Week honors.
Godwin batted .556 in the Tar Heels' six games last week, tallying a team-best 10 hits, 12 RBIs, a pair of home runs, four runs and a double. She also slugged a team-best .944 with a .556 on-base percentage.
She set a Carolina single-game record with 10 RBIs against NCCU on Feb. 27. She went 4-of-4 at the plate, matching her career-best, with two home runs in the same inning against the Eagles.
Godwin's 10 RBIs are the second-most by any player in a single game in the NCAA this season. Samiyya Huckabee of Jackson State (12) leads the nation.
Godwin and the Tar Heels are back in action tonight, hosting Furman at 5 p.m. in Anderson Stadium.
