FSU Tops Softball In Series Opener, 13-3

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The North Carolina softball team fell on the road to No. 16 Florida State, 13-3, in six innings on Friday evening at the Seminole Softball Complex. The Tar Heels gave up three home runs and allowed 14 FSU hits, the second-most they have allowed this season.
At the plate, Carolina was only able to tally four hits: one each from Alex Coleman, Sanaa Thompson, Destiny Middleton and Carlie Myrtle. Myrtle hit her third home run of the season to lead off the top of the second.
Carolina used three pitchers in the loss: Kenna Raye Dark, Nikki Harris and Janelle Wilson. Dark (8-5), who started the game, was charged with the loss, giving up five earned runs.
Harris pitched 3.1 innings of relief, allowing five earned runs and six hits. Wilson had the sole Tar Heel strikeout of the game, pitching one inning, giving up three runs and three hits.
Carolina will look to bounce back when they rematch with the Seminoles tomorrow at 4 p.m. on ESPNU.
