Track & Field Have Strong Decathlon Start On Day One Of Hurricane Alumni Invitational

Coral Gables, Fla. - The Carolina men's and women's track and field teams started strong at the Hurricane Alumni Invitational on Friday, at the meet hosted by the Univeristy of Miami at the Cobb Track.
The day was highlighted by Spencer Williams setting a personal record in the men's discus, propelling him to fifth place on his final throw.
Sam Corley also had a strong first day of the decathlon, sitting at third overall with 3962 points halfway through the event. His performance was attributed to a second-place finish in the long jump. Additionally, he achieved personal records in the 100m and 400m events.
The Tar Heels will be back in action tomorrow to compete at the Hurricane Alumni Invitational, with a full day of events kicking off at 11:00 am.
