Women’s Lacrosse Falls To Florida In NCAA First Round

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The 2024 season came to a close on Friday evening for the North Carolina women's lacrosse team, which dropped a 17-8 decision to Florida in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Charlottesville, Virginia, at Klöckner Stadium.
The Tar Heels finish the year at 10-7 (6-3 ACC) while the Gators improve to 18-2 (6-0 AAC) and advance to Sunday's second round.

How It Happened
- Despite holding a 10-7 edge in shots, the Tar Heels ended the first quarter trailing Florida, 5-2.
- UF scored the first two of the second quarter before a pair from Alyssa Long sparked a 4-1 run with just over five left on the clock.
- The Gators ended the half with three unanswered to extend their lead to 11-6 after 30 minutes of play.
- Florida added two more and kept Carolina scoreless during the third quarter, having built its lead to 13-6 heading into the final frame.
- The Gators out-scored the Tar Heels 4-2 in the fourth quarter, ending with a 17-8 win.

- UF held a narrow 32-31 edge in shots, including 23-22 in shots on goal.
- UNC had seven caused turnovers to UF's three, led by Ellie Traggio and McKenna Harden with two each.

- Wurzburger also ends her collegiate career on a 44-game streak of recording at least one point, dating back to April 21, 2022.
- Nalls finishes her time in Chapel Hill with 88 career starts – every game of her career – which is tied for second-most in program history.
