Carlsbad, Calif. – Fifth-year senior Kayla Smith birdied the 18th hole to shoot even par to highlight the University of North Carolina's second round of the 2024 NCAA Women's Golf Championship Saturday at the Champions Course at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa.

The Tar Heels shot 16-over 304 today and are 26th in the 30-team field at 29 over par after 36 holes.

Texas A&M has the lead at 11 under par, five shots ahead of second-place Stanford. Clemson is third at 3 under, UCLA is fourth at 2 under and Auburn, LSU and Oregon are tied for fifth at -1.

Texas A&M's Adela Cernousek is the individual leader at 8 under after shooting a pair of 68s in the first two rounds.

Smith (71-72) is tied for 23rd at 1-under 143, one of 28 in the field of 156 players to be under par after 36 holes.

The Burlington, N.C., native made three birdies and lost strokes on just two holes, the fifth when she drove into a fairway bunker and the 15th when she also drove into a bunker. She double bogeyed the fifth, but bounced back with a birdie on six when she hit her approach to four feet and made the short birdie putt. She also birdied the eighth hole and 18.
