CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Carolina softball head coach Megan Smith Lyon has announced the addition of a pair of in-state transfers who will play for the Tar Heels this fall.
Lindsay Lumsden and Rayna Blackwell, both rising sophomores, join Carolina as transfers from Campbell and Charlotte, respectively.

In addition to her CAA Rookie of the Year honor, she was also named to the All-CAA First Team and All-CAA Rookie Team and earned a pair of CAA Rookie of the Week awards. Lumsden will be reunited with former teammate and current Tar Heel Sanaa Thompson, who she played with in travel ball for the Georgia Impact.
Blackwell is a catcher from Rock Hill, S.C. who is transferring in from Charlotte. In her freshman season with the 49ers, Blackwell played in 30 games, making 13 starts behind the plate. She totaled seven runs, nine hits, three doubles, a homer, and nine RBIs and was named to the AAC All-Tournament Team in May.
Blackwell and Lumsden join Shelby Barbee (Virginia), Grace Jackson (Princeton) and Kat Rodriguez (Pitt) as the Tar Heels' five transfer additions this offseason.
