Streicher Wins Carolinas Amateur

Megan Streicher, a rising junior at the University of North Carolina, birdied the 16^th hole to take a one-shot lead and held on to win the 98^th Carolinas Women's Amateur Wednesday at the Pine Island Country Club in Charlotte.

Streicher shot 71-66 for 5-under 137, a stroke better than Sydney Roberts of Chesnee, S.C.

The South Africa native birdied three of the first six holes today, made her only bogey on the eighth hole, then shot a bogey-free 3-under 33 on the back nine for the win.

By virtue of the victory Streicher earns a spot in the 2024 United States Amateur, which will be played August 5-11 at the Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla.

Streicher joins rising junior Inez Ng and Kayla Smith, a fifth-year senior at UNC last season, in the U.S. Amateur field. Smith and Streicher rank one-two, respectively, in career scoring by Tar Heels.

Smith qualified for the U.S. Amateur by winning the 2024 North Carolina Women's Am, while Ng placed fourth in the 2023 World Amateur Team Championship.
