After being on break for international play, the 2024 National Women's Soccer League resumed this past weekend with several former Tar Heel standouts posting impressive performances.
Bay FC
» Emmie Allen (2021-23)
» Dorian Bailey (2015-18)
» Savy King (2023)
Bay FC dropped a 2-1 decision to Utah Royals as NWSL action went back underway. Bailey logged a full game. King started the match and saw 66 minutes of action. Allen was available as a sub but was not used.Â
King was also recently named to the United States U-20 National Team which will play in the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Colombia. She'll join former Tar Heel teammates Ally Sentnor (Utah Royals) and Maddie Dahlien (UNC junior) on the U.S. roster.Â
NJ/NY Gotham FC
» Crystal Dunn (2010-13)
NJ/NY Gotham FC returned to NWSL play with a 2-0 win over Portland Thorns.Â
Dunn had been on international duty to represent the United States in her third Olympic Games in France. She helped Team USA win the gold medal for the fifth time in USWNT history. Dunn had the game-winning assist in the quarterfinals. This is her second Olympic medal in her third Games; She also earned bronze in 2021.Â
Houston Dash

Houston Dash took a 1-0 loss to Orlando Pride as the NWSL resumed action. Both Nielsen and Patterson were part of the Starting XI and logged a full game.Â
North Carolina Courage

North Carolina Courage fell to Seattle Reign FC, 1-0, in stoppage time. Pinto was available as a sub but was not used.Â
Maycee Bell, who was drafted No. 14 overall to NJ/NY Gotham FC, was traded to North Carolina Courage earlier this week. She has yet to make her Courage debut.
Dorsey, who was drafted with the No. 40 overall pick, was placed on loan to Dallas Trinity FC in the USL Super League through 2024. She will be reunited with former UNC teammate Sam Meza who was also loaned to Dallas Trinity FC by Seattle Reign.
Portland Thorns

Portland Thorns suffered a 2-0 loss to Gotham FC. Klingenberg subbed in during the 78th minute.
Seattle Reign FC

Seattle Reign FC defeated North Carolina Courage, 1-0, in stoppage time. Dickey earned her fifth regular season clean sheet to tie former Reign FC goalkeeper Casey Murphy for the fifth-most regular season shutouts in club history. She started the match and finished with three saves.Â
Meza, who was drafted with the No. 17 overall pick, was placed on loan to Dallas Trinity FC in the USL Super League through 2024. She will be reunited with former UNC teammate Julia Dorsey who was also loaned to Dallas Trinity FC by NC Courage.
Utah Royals
» Ally Sentnor (2021-23)
On August 16, Utah Royals defeated Crystal Palace W.F.C by a score of 3-0 in a friendly. Sentnor had a brace, scoring in the 54th and 70th minutes. For her first goal, she received a simple pass on the right, dribbled into the right side of the penalty box down the line, and rifled a hard powerful effort to the near post. For her second goal, a square ball on the right found Sentnor who took a slick first touch to evade the challenge of an onrushing defender before tapping home into an empty net. Sentnor started the match and logged 76 minutes.Â
Utah Royals returned to NWSL action to take down Bay FC, 2-1. Sentnor once again started the match and logged a full game.  Â
