August 7, 2024 | Football
NEW YORK, N.Y. - Kobe Paysour, a junior wide receiver for the Tar Heels, has been named to the College Sports Communicators 2024 Comeback Player of the Year Award watch list, the association announced Wednesday morning.
Â
Prior to suffering a season-ending injury last season, Paysour started and appeared in the first five games at wide receiver. In five games, he caught 22 passes for 282 yards and three touchdowns.
Â
In the season-opener against South Carolina, Paysour had seven catches for 66 yards and a touchdown. The following week, versus Appalachian State, he tallied eight catches for 73 yards. In weeks three and four, Paysour recorded four receptions and a touchdown before tallying three receptions for a season-high 100 yards and a touchdown against Syracuse in week five.
Since 2018, the award has recognized college football student-athletes for overcoming injury, illness, or other circumstances. At the conclusion of each season, in a vote by a panel of college football writers, editors, and sports information directors, three college football student-athletes are honored as Comeback Player of the Year Award winners at the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl.Â
