UNC Swimmers Ready To Dive Into New Season At Queens University

Chapel Hill, NC. – The Carolina swimmers are ready to hit the water against Queens University of Charlotte on Friday, Sep. 27, in Charlotte. This is the fourth time the two schools have faced off and the first meeting since last season. The event will be streamed on Queen's Atheltic's Website.
The squads hope to set the tone for another successful season. 2023-24 was the fourth consecutive season the women's team posted a top-20 finish under coach Mark Gangloff. Carolina scored 77 points in the NCAA Championships and claimed two national titles, with Aranza Vazquez Montaño repeating as NCAA 1-meter and 3-meter springboard champion.
UNC had four individuals earn All-America honorable mention accolades, such as Greer Pattison, Skyler Smith, and Ellie VanNote, who finished among the top 16 in their respective events during last year's NCAA Championships.
Last year, the Men's team at UNC set three program records, and five Tar Heels earned honorable mention All-America honors during the National Championship.
Last season, when Carolina competed against Queens University, the women won 180-77, sweeping all 14 events. The men also came out victorious against the Royals 148.5-111.5. The Carolina men's team captured eight individual event wins. On the women's side, the Tar Heels took the top three spots in the 100, 200, and 500 free, 100 and 200 back, 200 breast, and 200 IM. UNC took the top three on the men's side in the 100 and 200 fly.
The Tar Heels are looking to continue their success against the Royals on Friday.
