September 4, 2024 | Football
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – North Carolina place-kicker Noah Burnette has added Lou Groza Award "Star of the Week" accolades to his resume after connecting on all four of his field goal attempts in the Heels' 19-17 win at Minnesota top open the 2024 season.
Â
College football's top kicking award, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award presented by the Orange Bowl recognizes three of the top kickers each week from FBS division teams as the "Stars of the Week."
Â
Burnette was the first FBS kicker to tally four field goals this season, hitting from 52, 42, 29, and 45, which sealed the victory for Carolina against the Golden Gophers.
Â
His 52-yarder was a career-long and the longest for a Tar Heel since Nick Weiler hit a 54-yarder against Florida State on Oct. 1, 2016.
Â
Burnette and Carolina host Charlotte for its home opener this Saturday, Sept. 7, at 3:30 p.m. on ACC Network.
