Women’s Soccer Readies For Rivalry Match At Duke

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The 53rd edition of the Tobacco Road rivalry resumes on Thursday as the undefeated No. 2 North Carolina women's soccer team makes a quick trip to Durham to face Duke at Koskinen Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET.

The match will broadcast nationally on ACC Network with Jenn Hildreth and Lori Lindsey on call. Tickets are available for purchase here.

This will be the first of two regular season meetings between the Tar Heels and Blue Devils this year. Thursday will count as a nonconference game with the official ACC contest set for Oct. 31 in Chapel Hill.

The last Tobacco Road rivalry meeting was a 1-1 draw in Durham on Oct. 8, 2023. Emerson Elgin assisted UNC's lone goal in the 59th minute before DU got a 89th-minute equalizer.
Current UNC grad defender Olivia Migli, who has logged 322 minutes with four starts, transferred from Duke (2020-23). She appeared in 71 matches for the Blue Devils, totaling 11 goals and five assists.
Duke assistant coach Carla Overbeck was a three-time All-America selection for UNC from 1986-89, leading the Tar Heels to four unbeaten national title seasons. She was also a four-time NCAA All-Tournament and two-time All-ACC pick.
UNC checked in at No. 2 in this week's United Soccer Coaches poll after spending the previous two weeks at No. 5. The team has been ranked for 516 consecutive weeks.

Junior forward Maddie Dahlien is currently competing with the U.S. U-20 National Team at the 2024 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Colombia. She left for national team duty on Aug. 20 after playing in the first two games of the season.

No. 2 North Carolina will arrive in Durham with an unblemished 6-0-0 record. Duke enters Thursday's match boasting a 2-1 overall mark.
