Football To Open 2025 ACC Slate Hosting Clemson October 4

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The North Carolina football team will open its 2025 Atlantic Coast Conference slate on October 4 at home against defending ACC champion Clemson.

The matchup pits the two programs against each other for the 61st time and it will be the third meeting in the last four seasons, having not seen each other in 2024.

The Tigers, in their 17th season under head coach Dabo Swinney, have reached the College Football Playoffs seven times – including this past season's appearance – and won two national titles under Swinney.

On Thursday, it was announced that Carolina's season opener against TCU will take place Monday, September 1 at 7:30 p.m. with coverage on ESPN from inside Kenan Stadium.

The Tar Heels' complete 2025 schedule will be revealed Monday night on the ACC Network and GoHeels.com.

Clemson leads the all-time series against Carolina 40-19-1 and 16-11-1 in games played in Chapel Hill. The last Tar Heel victory against the Tigers was a 21-16 win in Kenan Stadium during the 2010 campaign.

Carolina has won five of its last seven ACC openers, but lost its first conference game last season, at Duke, 21-20.
