Triplett Tabbed Patrick Mannelly Award Finalist
December 1, 2025 | Football
After being named one of 10 semifinalists a few weeks ago, North Carolina long snapper Spencer Triplett is now a finalist for the Patrick Mannelly Award, the organization announced Monday night.
He is one of three finalists for the award along with Georgia's Beau Gardner and Penn State's Tyler Duzansky. Triplett is the first player in program history to be a finalist for the award, which began in 2019.
Presented annually to the nation's top long snapper, the award is named after former NFL long snapper Patrick Mannelly, who never recorded a bad snap and was accredited to playing a pivotal role in the success of the kickers he played with.
Triplett was a perfect 99-for-99 on snaps this season with 56 on punts, 23 field goal attempts and 20 extra-point attempts. He has worked tirelessly on perfecting his craft and the accuracy of his snaps, in addition to being a leader in the special teams unit.
The Shelby, North Carolina, native has appeared in 53 games as a Tar Heel and had a perfect snap on the 57-yard field goal by kicker Rece Verhoff to set the program record against Wake Forest.
The Patrick Mannelly award benefits Bernie's Book Bank, which is a non-profit organization, dedicated to finding ways to help children develop their reading skills by providing free books to help build their home libraries in the local Lake Buff, Illinois area.
