Reniya Kelly Named ACC Player Of The Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Following an electric week for Reniya Kelly with the guard posting back-to-back 20-point performances and leading the Tar Heels to wins over Virginia Tech and NC State, the sophomore has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference's Player of The Week.
Draining a single-game high five threes en route to a career-high 23 points in the victory over No. 10 NC State, Kelly led the Tar Heels in scoring in their first top 10 win of the season. Shooting 9-of-18 from the field against the Wolfpack, Kelly's play lifted Carolina to its third straight win over NC State in Chapel Hill in the 66-65 nailbiter.
In the win 67-62 win over Virginia Tech on Thursday, Kelly tied her then career-best with 20 points against the Hokies. Knocking down 50% of her shots on seven field goals in Carolina's first win over Virginia Tech since 2022, Kelly was all over the court with two rebounds, two steals and two assists.
Riding a six-game streak in double-figure scoring, Kelly has come into her own throughout her second season in Chapel Hill. Starting in all 26 games for the Tar Heels, Kelly is currently averaging 10.1 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.2 steals per game.
Kelly is the fourth Tar Heel in the Courtney Banghart era to be named an ACC Player of the Week and the first since 2022. The No. 9 Tar Heels are back in action on Thursday, heading on the road to Syracuse to face off against the Orange at 6 p.m. ET on ACC Network.
