Heels Wrap Up Second Week Of Scrimmages

Chapel Hill, NC--Â Three Navy pitchers held the Blue squad to just two base hits as Navy rolled to a 9-2 win over Blue on Sunday afternoon in a six-1/2-inning scrimmage at Boshamer Stadium. Navy outhit Blue by a 7-2 margin. Four of Navy's hits were extra-base hits. There was just one error in the scrimmage.
Offensive Highlights: No player had multiple base hits. Navy's seven hits came from the following: Kane Kepley was 1-3 with two RBI and two  runs scored. Luke Stevenson, who doubled, was 1-3 with two RBI and one run scored, while Rom Kellis V was 1-3 with two RBI. Tyson Bass, Hunter Stokely, Boaz Harper and Sawyer Black were the other Navy players with base hits. Stokely drilled a 373-foot homer to right, while Black and Harper each had a double.
Alex Madera and Jackson Van De Brake had Blue's two singles. Sam Angelo and Gavin Gallaher had the two Blue RBI.
Pitching Highlights:Â Olin Johnson, Cameron Padgett and Matthew Matthijs combined to hold Blue to their two hits. Johnson gave up two runs on two hits while striking ot four in 3.0 innings. Padgett retired all six batter he faced, fanning two of them. Matthijs tossed a scoreless inning.
Kyle Percival, Camron Seagraves, Ryan Hench, Harrison Lewis and Cale Bolton threw for Blue.Â
Defensive Highlights: Jackson Van De Brake made a diving, back-handed stab at second to rob Stokely of a base hit. Carter French made a great running, over-the-shoulder grab of a fly ball to deep center field.  Â
