Valahovic Selected As ACC Newcomer Of The Week

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – North Carolina gymnastics freshman JoJo Valahovic has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Newcomer of the Week, as announced by the league on Tuesday afternoon.
This is the first ACC weekly honor for the Tar Heels this season. Valahovic becomes the second UNC rookie to win the newcomer award in program history, joining Camryn Rueda from Feb. 12, 2024.
At Stanford on Jan. 31, Valahovic recorded a career-high 9.875 on floor to tie for second place. She also scored a 9.775 on vault and 9.825 on beam.
The Sagamore Hills, Ohio native has competed in vault, beam and floor in all four meets and has earned scores of 9.825+ in six of her 12 routines. She owns team-best scores on vault (9.875) and floor (9.875) and owns the highest vault score among all ACC freshmen.
Valahovic and the Tar Heels are back in action on Sunday, Feb. 9, against Clemson in Carmichael Arena. The meet will broadcast nationally on ACC Network at 4 p.m. ET and tickets are available for purchase here.
