MLAX's Thomann To Miss 2025 Season
February 7, 2025 | Men's Lacrosse
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Peter Thomann, a sophomore defenseman on the North Carolina men's lacrosse team, will medically redshirt for the 2025 season.
The Merrick, N.Y. native will miss the upcoming season, after suffering a lower-body injury in the 2025 preseason.
"Our entire Carolina Lacrosse program is devastated for Peter," head coach Joe Breschi said. "He's an incredible student-athlete in our Carolina community, and we will continue to support him during his recovery. There is no doubt in my mind that he will return strong for the Tar Heels in 2026."
"Our locker room is determined to represent and honor Pete this spring, by playing harder than ever."
Named to a Preseason All-ACC and USA Lacrosse Preseason All-America honoree, Thomann appeared and started in all 14 contests during his true freshman campaign last spring. The Tar Heel defenseman finished the season with a team-best 21 caused turnovers, while collecting 28 ground balls last spring.
This fall, Thomann was named to the USA Lacrosse U20 Training Camp roster, representing the Tar Heels in Orlando during last December's camp.
Carolina opens the season on Saturday at Dorrance Field, hosting Michigan at Noon.
