Women’s Lacrosse Treks To Blacksburg For Thursday Tilt

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – No. 2 North Carolina women's lacrosse embarks on a three-game road stretch starting at Virginia Tech on Thursday, March 20. First draw is set for 7 p.m. ET at Thompson Field in Blacksburg, Va.

- This will be the 34th meeting all-time between North Carolina and Virginia Tech. The Tar Heels lead the series at 33-0, including 13-0 in Blacksburg.
- The Tar Heels have three transfers who began their careers at Virginia Tech: Sophie Student, Olivia Vergano and Sarah Gresham. Gresham owns the Hokies' school record for most draw controls in a single season with 111 from 2023.
- Ashley Humphrey was named the ACC Co-Offensive Player of the Week and the IWLCA Co-Offensive National Player of the Week on March 18. She earned the honor after dishing out eight assists vs. Clemson on March 15, tying the UNC program record for single-game assists first set in 2018 by Ela Hazar.
- UNC has a league-leading five ACC Players of the Week: Ashley Humphrey (Feb. 18, March 18), Sam Forrest (Feb. 11), Brooklyn Walker-Welch (Feb. 18) and Chloe Humphrey (March 11).
- Through eight games, Carolina has outscored its opponents 144-40. UNC ranks second in both the ACC and NCAA in scoring offense with 18.0 goals per game.
- Carolina's defense has held opponents to 5.0 goals per game, which ranks first in both the ACC and NCAA. The team has yet to allow double-digit goals all year. UNC has kept its opponent scoreless in 10 quarters across eight games.
- Betty Nelson and Lexi Zenk have combined to give UNC a nation-leading .604 save percentage. Nelson's .571 save percentage 5.76 goals-against average both rank first in the ACC and NCAA.
- Together, Ashley and Chloe Humphrey have combined for 49 goals, 41 assists and 90 points. That's 34.0%, 52.6% and 40.5% of UNC's total offensive production, respectively.
- A. Humphrey is the 15th Tar Heel in program history to record 50+ career assists while at UNC. She currently ranks ninth with 71 assists, reaching that in just 24 games. She's 21 assists from cracking into the top five.
- A. Humphrey is averaging 4.12 assists per game, which leads the ACC and ranks second in the NCAA. She ranks first in career assists (201), assists per game (3.30) and points per game (4.97) among all active DI players.
