Wambach Earns ACC Defensive Player Of The Week Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - North Carolina men's lacrosse faceoff specialist Brady Wambach has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference's Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.
Wambach, a sophomore for the Tar Heels, won a combined 36 faceoffs and collected 17 ground balls in two games for Carolina this past weekend.
In the win over No. 14 Penn on Friday, the Pittsford, N.Y. product won 15 faceoffs, adding nine ground balls in the Tar Heel victory. On Sunday against No. 8 Princeton, Wambach earned 21 faceoffs wins and nine ground balls.
Against Princeton, Wambach's 21 faceoff wins was a career-high, the fourth-most in a single game in program history, as the 36 faceoff win weekend was the most in a two-game stretch during his career.
Up next, the Tar Heels host Hofstra on Saturday at 11 AM.
