April 29, 2025 | Men's Lacrosse
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Three North Carolina men's lacrosse players, along with head coach Joe Breschi, earned Atlantic Coast Conference postseason honors, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.
Owen Duffy, Dominic Pietramala and Brady Wambach earned spots on the All-ACC Team, as Breschi was named the ACC Coach of the Year.
Duffy, named to the All-ACC Team for the second-straight year, ranks second on the Tar Heels with 30 goals, leading Carolina with 24 assists and 54 points. Duffy has scored three-or-more goals in seven games this spring, and posted five-or-more points in seven contests. The East Quogue, N.Y. product ranks second in the ACC in assists per game (2.0/game) and third in points per game (4.25/game).
Pietramala, who leads Carolina and the ACC this season with 43 goals, earns conference postseason recognition for the first time in his career. The Tar Heel attackman has scored a hat trick in nine games this spring, highlighted by six-goal efforts on the road at No. 4 Johns Hopkins and No. 10 Syracuse.
Entering the ACC Tournament this weekend, the Lutherville, Md. native is seven goals away from tying the Carolina single-season goals record.
The attack tandem helped Carolina post multiple All-ACC attackmen for the first time since the 2015 campaign.
Wambach, who leads the ACC and is fourth-nationally in faceoff winning percentage (.648), is the first Tar Heel faceoff specialist to earn postseason honors from the conference since Stephen Kelly in 2016. The Pittsford, N.Y. product has recorded double-digit faceoff wins in 12 games this spring, as well as 10-or-more ground balls in five contests in 2025.
Breschi has been named the ACC's Coach of the Year for the fourth time in his career. Carolina won a share of the ACC Regular Season last weekend, the 14th in program history and the first since 2021. Now in his 17th season leading the Tar Heels and the program's all-time winningest head coach, Breschi has been named Conference Coach of the Year for the seventh time in his college coaching career.
Carolina has earned the No. 2 seed in this week's ACC Men's Lacrosse Championship, squaring off with third-seeded Duke Friday evening. Opening faceoff between the Tar Heels and Blue Devils is set for 8 PM, with the matchup airing on ACC Network.
