Godine, Student Nab ACC Weekly Honors
April 8, 2025 | Women's Lacrosse
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – University of North Carolina junior attacker Caroline Godine has been named ACC Co-Offensive Player of the week and graduate midfielder Sophie Student claimed ACC Co-Defensive Player of the Week for their performances against No. 1 Boston College last Saturday. This is the first recognition of the season for both Tar Heels
Â
Godine had a monster game for North Carolina in its big match-up with BC. She posted the ninth hat trick of her career with three goals, including the game winner, on four shots to help UNC score 12 in total against a BC defense that hadn't given up more than 10 goals all season. The Eagles came into the game allowing just 6.58 goals per game. Godine now has nine goals and four assists on the season.
Â
Student led a Tar Heel defense that stifled the nation's top-ranked offense in Boston College. She posted a career-high six groundballs in the tightly-contested 12-11 victory, while keeping her main mark, Molly Driscoll, in check with just one goal. Student and the Tar Heels held Boston College to its lowest scoring output of the season and its lowest since last year's National Semifinal.
The top-ranked Tar Heels will head to Greenville for a non-conference tilt with East Carolina on Wednesday. First draw is scheduled for 6 p.m. with the broadcast airing on ESPN+.
