Ten Things to Know
- North Carolina has gone 42-22 in NCAA Tournament play heading into its 25th appearance in the tourney. UNC has won three National Championships (2013, '16, '22), played in the title game five times and reached the semifinals 13 times. The Tar Heels are the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament for the third time. They also entered the tourney as the top seed in 2021 and '22.
- UNC has now won eight ACC Tournament titles and 11 ACC regular-season championships, including eight outright.
- UNC is the only undefeated team in the country after snapping Boston College's 21-game winning streak. The Tar Heels current 18-game winning streak is the longest in the nation, four games ahead of Florida's 14-game streak.
- UNC has defeated 11 Top 25 teams, including five over Top 5 teams.
- Through 18 games, Carolina has outscored its opponents 315-120 (+195). Its 10.8 scoring margin per game ranks first nationally. UNC ranks second in both the ACC and NCAA in scoring offense at 17.5 goals per game.
- Carolina's defense has held opponents to 6.7 goals per game, which ranks first in both the ACC and NCAA. The team has only allowed three double-digit scoring efforts all year. UNC has kept its opponent scoreless in 15 quarters across 18 games.
- Betty Nelson and Lexi Zenk have combined to give UNC a .518 save percentage, which ranks third in the country. Nelson's 7.25 goals-against average ranks first nationally. Â
- The Humphrey sisters are the 12th and 13th Tewaaraton Award finalists in UNC history and Chloe is the first freshman to become a finalist for the women's award. This is the third time UNC has had two finalists (2021: Moreno/Ortega | 2022: Ortega/Mastroianni).
- Chloe Humphrey has scored 73 goals (T-6th NCAA) this season and only needs two more goals to set the NCAA record for goals by a freshman (74 by Karri Ellen Johnson, Maryland). She is third on UNC's single-season goals list behind Jamie Ortega, who had 82 in 2021 and 81 in 2019. Humphrey has scored at least five goals eight times this season and has tallied hat tricks in 15-of-18 games.
- Ashley Humphrey has tallied 238 career assists between Stanford and UNC and only needs nine more to set a new NCAA record (246 by Kylie Ohlmiller, Stony Brook). Her 70 assists this season lead the country and are four away from setting UNC's single-season mark (73 by Katie Hoeg). Humphrey is currently fifth on UNC's all-time assists list (108). She is the NCAA's active leader in assists (238) and assists per game (3.4) and ranks fourth in points per game (4.99).
