Women’s Soccer To Open ACC Play At Virginia Tech

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – University of North Carolina women's soccer (6-2, 0-0 ACC) will hit the road to open Atlantic Coast Conference play against Virginia Tech (4-2-2, 0-0 ACC) on Thursday. The Tar Heels and Hokies are set for a 7 p.m. kickoff in Blacksburg, Va. with live streaming available on ACCNX.
The Matchup
The Hokies are a familiar foe for the Tar Heels. UNC has clashed with Virginia Tech 26 times in program history and boast an all-time record of 22-3-1.
In their previous meeting, Carolina shutout Virginia Tech, 2-0, featuring a brace from Kate Faasse. Last year's match marked the 13th time the Tar Heels have shutout the Hokies.
Thursday's game presents a challenge to the visiting Tar Heels. All three of Carolina's losses to Virginia Tech have come on the road. UNC will look to carry the momentum they built at the end of non-conference play to put together a strong outing in Blacksburg while opening the conference season.
