Mendez Named ACC Offensive Player Of The Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - North Carolina field hockey midfielder Dani Mendez has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the organization announced on Tuesday afternoon.Â
The season points leader for the No. 2 nationally ranked Tar Heels, Mendez has been fantastic in her first four games in Carolina blue. Thus far, she has racked up 11 points on three goals and five assists to help her team remain unbeaten through two weeks. She is third in the conference in points and assists while sitting in a tie with teammates Ryleigh Heck and Isabel Boere for the fourth most goals.Â
The Virginia transfer stayed hot on UNC's trip to New Jersey this weekend. She racked up a goal and two assists on Friday afternoon against Penn before adding another assist on the game winning goal in the team's 3-2 win over No. 10 Princeton on Sunday. Her goal against the Quakers proved to be the game winner.
Mendez returns to the turf on Friday night for the Tar Heels' home opener against App State. The game is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET with coverage coming on ACCNX.Â
