January 2, 2026 | Men's Lacrosse
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The North Carolina men's lacrosse program has released its 2026 schedule, head coach Joe Breschi announced Friday morning.
The Tar Heels finished last season with 10 wins, a share of the ACC regular season title and the 34th NCAA Tournament appearance in program history. The 15-game regular season slate in 2026 features eight home games in Chapel Hill, five road contests and two neutral-site matchups.
Carolina begins the year on the road at Towson (Feb. 1), followed by four-straight home games versus Jacksonville (Feb. 7), High Point (Feb. 13), Iona (Feb. 15) and Johns Hopkins (Feb. 20).
To close the opening month and begin the month of March, the Tar Heels face three consecutive Ivy League programs, road contests at Penn (Feb. 27) and Princeton (March 1), returning home to meet Brown (March 7).
The Tar Heels will travel in-state to Charlotte for The Crown Lacrosse Classic against Penn State (March 14), followed by hosting Army (March 21). In the final nonconference matchup of the regular season, Carolina and Harvard (March 29) are set to meet at Archbishop Spalding High School, in Severn, Md.
Carolina plays all four Atlantic Coast Conference contests in the final month of the regular season, hosting to Syracuse (April 4) and Duke (April 25), and hitting the road to face Notre Dame (April 11) and Virginia (April 18).
The 2026 ACC Tournament will be played at American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte during the first weekend in May, with the semifinals on May 1 and the championship held on May 3.
2026 Schedule Notes
• The 2026 campaign is the 69th varsity season of Carolina men's lacrosse.
• Carolina and Towson meet for the first time since the 1991 national championship game. This season is the 35th anniversary of that matchup, an 18-13 Tar Heel victory.
• Since 1981, Carolina and Johns Hopkins have played in all but one year (2021), including nine times in the NCAA Tournament.
• The Tar Heels will face Virginia for the 87th time and Duke for the 84th occasion, the most among any opponents in program history.
• The nonconference portion of the schedule is represented by seven different conferences.
• Carolina's schedule features seven teams who made the NCAA Tournament a year ago, and eight teams that finished the 2025 campaign ranked in the top-20.
