Tar Heels Begin Second Week Of Scrimmages

Chapel Hill, NC--Â The North Carolina Tar Heels began their second week of Spring scrimmages with a fairly long scrimmage on Wednesday afternoon at a sunny but chilly Boshamer Stadium. The field was in excellent condition with the exception of some remaining snow on the outfield warning track.
Offensive Highlights:Â Lee Sowers, who had a 340-foot homer to left, was 2-4 with four RBI and one run scored. Rom Kellis V was 2-3 with one RBI and two runs scored. Both of his base hits went for extra bases as he drilled a 372-foot home run to left center to go with a double. Â
AJ Terry and Owen Hull were the other two batters with extra base hits. Terry was 2-3 with one run scored, while Hull was 2-5 with one RBI and one run scored. Jake Schaffner's double was the only other extra-base hit.
Pitching Highlights:Â Six pitchers saw action in the scrimmage as Jason DeCaro, Folger Boaz, Caden Glauber, Ryan Lynch, Jackson Rose and Tom Chmielewski all threw. Boaz tossed 5.0 scoreless innings and struck out five hitters while walking just one and giving up two base hits.
Glauber threw 3.0 scoreless innings, striking out three and giving up just one hit. Rose gave up no runs in 2.0 innings while striking out three and giving up one hit.
The Tar Heels will hold their next scrimmage on Thursday.
