January 29, 2026 | Women's Tennis
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – No. 3 University of North Carolina women's tennis will head up the road Friday to Cary Tennis Park to take on no. 9 NC State at 6 p.m. The Tar Heels and Wolfpack have a storied history that will continue this weekend in competition outside of ACC play.
Last season, the teams clashed three times with UNC going 3-0. The Tar Heels met the Wolfpack once in the regular season before battling it out in the ACC Tournament Semifinals and NCAA Super Regional.
Carolina heads into the matchup behind experienced competitors, Reese Brantmeier and Oby Kajuru. Both have been named ACC Player of the Week at one point this season and have combined for a 5-0 record in singles play at the one and two position. Brantmeier has two ranked wins under her belt so far this season while Kajuru has notched one ranked win.
In doubles action, Brantmeier and Alanis Hamilton continue to lead the Tar Heels with a 4-0 record and two ranked wins. The duo was recently tabbed ACC Doubles Team of the Week and will look to continue that momentum against the reigning NCAA Doubles National Champions from NC State.
