Barbee Leads Offensive Outburst Over Coastal Carolina 8-2

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Carolina Softball moved to 4-0 for the first time since 2024 with an 8-2 victory over Coastal Carolina.
In the bottom of the fourth, Carolina's offense exploded behind the bat of Shelby Barbee, who tied the game 2-2 with a home run to right center. It was her third home run in four games, adding to her ACC-leading home run total.
Carolina followed up the home run by loading up the bases for Raegan Jennings, who delivered a single to right over the head of the second baseman for the first lead of the game.
Emily LeGette launched her second home run as a Tar Heel to extend the lead. Barbee and LeGette sit alone in the top two spots in ACC home run totals.
Carolina closed out the sixth inning with four runs off of four straight batters, which was capped off by an RBI double to center field to balloon the lead to six by Barbee for the final score of the game.
Carly Maxton came in for Kenna Raye Dark and shut down the Chanticleers, throwing 4.2 scoreless innings with four strikeouts, earning the win and moving to 3-0 on the season, which leads the conference.
Carolina is back in action against Bryant on Friday at 4 PM to kick off the Carolina Classic.
