• Carolina is 17-0 in the Smith Center this season. The 17 wins tie UNC's single-season record for home wins, including wins in the Smith Center (17-1 in 2011-12).
• This is the first time the Tar Heels have won their first 17 games in a season in the Smith Center. In 2016-17, UNC won all 17 of its home games. The Tar Heels won its first 12 games that season in the Smith Center, then beat Notre Dame in Greensboro in a game the NCAA determined was a home game, then won their final four games in the Smith Center.
• Carolina's 17-game home win streak is its longest since winning 22 in row, a streak that began 2/20/2016 and ended with a loss to Wofford on 12/20/2017.
• The Tar Heels shot 60.9% from the floor in the second half. It was the third straight game UNC shot 60% in at least one half (61.5% in the second at Syracuse and 60.7% in the first vs. Louisville).
• This is the first time UNC has shot 60% from the floor in a half in three consecutive games since the 2006-07 season (74.1% in the first half vs. Florida Atlantic, 60.0 in the second at St Louis and 64.5% in the second at Rutgers).
• Carolina shot 51.7% in the first half and 60.9% in the second. This was the fourth game this season UNC shot 50% or better in both halves (wins over NC Central and ECU and a loss to Stanford).
• The 89 points were the most by the Tar Heels since beating Georgia Tech, 91-75, on January 31.
• Carolina was 6-2 in February (6-1 in November, 7-0 in December, 4-3 in January and 6-2 in February).
• Henri Veesaar led all scorers and tied his career high with 26 points. Veesaar also scored 26 earlier this season against ETSU and at Stanford. It was Veesaar's sixth 20-point game of the season and the seventh of his career.
• It was the seventh time Veesaar led UNC in scoring, including the second time in the last five games UNC has played without leading scorer Caleb Wilson.
• Veesaar was 11 for 20 from the floor. The 11 field goals were a career high (he had 10 vs. ETSU).
• Veesaar made two three-pointers, the ninth time this season (first time since Stanford) he made multiple 3FGs.
• It was the ninth time Veesaar was KenPom's Game MVP, second-most on the team (12 by Wilson).
• Seth Trimble scored 20 points, his fourth 20-point game of the season and fifth of his career.
• This was the second time Trimble scored 20 or more in consecutive games. He had 30 on Monday against Louisville (had 20 against Florida State and 22 at SMU to begin ACC play in January).
• Trimble led UNC in assists for the second game in a row.
• Jonathan Powell scored 15 points, his third game this season in double figures (the second ACC game). He had 17 against USC Upstate and 12 vs. Syracuse on February 2.
• Powell made a season-high four three-pointers. It was the 10th time this season he made multiple threes. His previous high was three against USC Upstate and the home win over Syracuse.
• Zayden High scored 12 points and had five rebounds.
• It was the fourth time this season and career High scored in double figures (third time in the last five games).
• High was a career-best 8 for 8 from the line (previous best was 5 for 6 vs. NC Central and 5 for 8 at NC State).
• It was the sixth straight game High grabbed five or more rebounds, the only player on the team to accomplish that over that stretch).
• High led both teams in plus/minus at plus 13, the second time in three games he has led the Tar Heels (plus 17 at Syracuse).
• The Tar Heels shot 76.7% from the free throw line (23 for 30), its best percentage in a game this season when attempting 30 or more free throws.
• UNC committed eight turnovers in the first half, most in a half since it had eight at Miami in the first half on February 10.
• UNC scored 21 bench points in the first half, more than any of the four previous games without Wilson, and finished with 32. The 32 bench points were the most since UNC scored 35 against Notre Dame on January 21.
• The game was tied at 44 at the half. It was the second time this season the Tar Heels were tied at the half (also at Kentucky).
• Hubert Davis is 67-29 in regular-season ACC games.
• Carolina is 75-17 all-time against Virginia Tech, 22-7 since the Hokies joined the ACC.
• The Tar Heels are 35-6 all-time vs. the Hokies in Chapel Hill, including 10-1 in the Smith Center.
