Raio, Hagerup Sweep ACC Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Honors
March 17, 2026 | Men's Lacrosse
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The North Carolina men's lacrosse duo of Anthony Raio and Leif Hagerup have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
The weekly honor is the first for each player, following Carolina's 10-8 victory over ninth-ranked Penn State last Saturday.
Raio, a freshman midfielder for the Tar Heels, scored three goals and collected a ground ball in the winning effort. The three-goal showing was the Dix Hills, N.Y. product's first career hat trick, as Raio has scored in six games this season, including three consecutive contests.
Hagerup posted a career-high five caused turnovers and a ground ball on Saturday, his third career game with multiple caused turnovers. Hagerup has played an integral role in six wins this season allowing single-digit goals, as well as a perfect 20-0 mark over the last three seasons in the same category.
Up next, Carolina will host No. 19 Army this Saturday, on Alumni Day and Military Appreciation Day. Opening faceoff between the Tar Heels and Black Knights from Dorrance Field is set for 4:30 PM.
